This is photo series on the kids of Bhatora Island, a fishing village near Midnapore. Most of the kids here grow up alone without their parents as they leave early in the morning to catch fish and after that they travel to nearby markets and haats to sell them.
With no one to guide them, they grow up alone and mostly end up doing wrong things which affects them in the near future.
I went for a boat ride across Rupnarayan and on reaching the shore I travelled for kilometres aimlessly and then i discoverd this fishing village.
They were so welcoming and so friendly that they even decided to walk with me to the nearby ghat from where I will get my boat to return home. We travelled for nearly 2 kilometres together and then it was getting dark and cold so I had to literally force them to return home.
Things are slowly improving in that area, at least they have food, hospitals, schools, electricity now. I pray and I hope that this issue will get resolved soon.
