Situated in the coast of Andhra Pradesh, India, Kakinada is a Port city also known as the pensioner’s paradise.
Kakinada has it’s own rich history, vibrant cultural and economic importance. It is well connected through railways, air and sea route.
History
In the 17th century the Dutch East India Company set Kakinada as their trading port after the nawab of Rajahmundry Haji Muhammad Hussain granted them permission for trading. However the Dutch lost their territory to the British after the Anglo-dutch war in 1825.
Culture
The mix of Telegu, British, Dutch and other communities makes Kakinada a cultural hub, one of the main attractions being the beach music festival which is a three day event celebrated annually.
Economy
Kakinada being a Port city has it’s economic importance. It is one of the busiest ports of Andhra Pradesh dealing in transportation of agricultural, petroleum and chemical products. It is also important hub of fisheries.

Kakinada rural life offers a simple traditional approach characterized by hard work, cultural richness and harmonious relationship with natural resources. Kakinada has a vast beautiful coastline in eastern Andhra Pradesh which is a photographer’s delight for documenting human life in coastal areas.
About the photographer
Mr. Saraswatirao Korlapati was a banker retired as assistant branch manager in 2014. He has been doing photography since 1988. Since then he has received more than 1000 international awards and honors.
