I am Manish Jaisi, a street & documentary photographer based in Delhi. My journey began in 2012 when my father brought home a digicam. Initially, I was interested in capturing macros, but over time, I gravitated towards street and documentary photography. I found this genre to be the most challenging, prompting me to devote more time to honing my skills in this area.
Few years ago, I joined the banking sector full-time, and that’s when I began experimenting with flash photography on the streets. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed this style of photography. For me, photography is more than just a hobby; it’s my identity. My pictures reflect who I am and help me connect with people. Everyday scenes inspire me to capture images, and I believe that passion and zeal are crucial for photography.
Words from the master, Mr.Sharampal Chowdhry (later changed his name to S.Paul), constantly echo in my mind, serving as a source of motivation.
I got a chance to meet him twice , the first was as part of a contest by a news channel, where the winners would get to meet with him.
That was one of the best moments of my photography career. To meet with him and learn from him left a big mark on me.
Mr. S. Paul was in his 80s when I met him, he could barely stand but he had two cameras around his neck and shot non stop in the afternoon summer of Delhi. That is more than any inspiration that one would need.
One of my proudest moments came in 2019 when I was honored with a National Award by the Government of India for my contributions to photography. However, I believe that every small achievement should be celebrated and valued.
