It was the first month of the year when PHOENIX PHOTOGRAPHY opened it’s gates for online submissions of photographs for the January 2022 championship cup.
We had received an overwhelming response from the enthusiastic photographers from India and abroad. The Board of Directors had appointed Dr.Rana Jabeen, a well-known cityscape and architectural photographer residing at Riyadh as the external jury of the competition. The photographers were asked to submit a maximum of 10 pictures each and they did a commendable job by sending eye catching photographs.
Finally after a hard fought contest of one month period Mrs. Shampa Bhowmik emerged victorious. She contested closely with Arunima Ghosh, Ajit Kumar Majhi, Mousumi Ghosh and Bhaskar Nandi who received the runners up and Honorable Mentions respectively.

What does winning the Phoenix Photography January championship mean to you?
Phoenix Photography January Championship Cup means a lot to me. It is a prestigious competition where a lot of talented photographers participate, and being able to win amongst them is certainly a special feeling.
Do you have any particular photograph which you will remember for a long time? Tell us the story behind it.
I was returning from Purulia while I luckily found this particular shot while travelling via car. This photo is very special to me because it gave me my first exposure through exhibitions and competitions. (Photo attached below)
What are the challenges you face being a female photographer?
As a working woman, balancing between my professional life, household duties and my passion – photography is a very challenging matter. Photography brings me great pleasure so that’s why I am able to pursue it tirelessly.
What are the benefits of Street and Daily Life photography?
Street & Daily Life photography helps to enhance instant decision-making abilities. Also, the scope of working with multiple kinds of subjects helps develop the concept of how to create a good composition.
Describe your camera kit bag.
My camera kit bag contains my trusted Nikon D7200 camera and lens accessories including Nikon 18 – 105 and Tokina 11-20mm.
