PHOENIX PHOTOGRAPHY

Pakistani photographer, now based in the United Arab Emirates, Ahmar Amjad, is a member of World Photo Freaks since 22nd October 2020.

Within this short period of time he has managed to make a mark of his own in this international platform because of his incredible photography.

Recently he was selected to be featured in the blog series FOCUSED | with WORLD PHOTO FREAKS. Here’s an excerpt of the interview along with few of his beautiful works.

Your genre of photography ?

Photography is my hobby and I am doing it for the last 10 years. I love doing wildlife and landscape photography. I always try to gather like minded people and travel with them for capturing beautiful photos. Sometimes I stay in the mountains to enjoy the beauty of nature and capture them in my camera.

What motivated you to take up photography?

During my college days, I use to watch National Geographic Channel on TV. I use to love the way they capture the wildlife moments. This lead me close to the nature. Also, I love reading animal encyclopedia and take inspiration from those photographs too.

Your favorite photography destination?

Before I use to do group photography and portraits but then I fell in love with wildlife and landscape photography. I travelled to Europe, Africa, most part of Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

For wildlife I found the Masai Mara national reserve in Kenya the perfect place to be. Along with different species of birds and animals, It has huge grasslands and it’s a magnificent place for astrophotography too during season. For landscapes northern Pakistan and UAE are fantastic.

Northern Pakistan has breathtaking mountain ranges sharing borders with India and China, where as UAE has beautiful sand dunes and gorgeous cityscapes.

Describe your camera kit bag.

I had started photography with Fuji film camera as a hobby back in 2005. Later I shifted to Nikon. Nikon D90 was my first DSLR camera. I had spent big on lenses like 18 – 105 mm, 50 mm F1.8 and 70 – 300 mm.

I think Nikon makes very good camera gears. Today I am having Nikon D850, Nikon D610 camera bodies. My kit has Nikon 14-24 F 2.8, Nikon 24-70 F2.8, Nikon 24-120 F4, Sigma 24-70 F2.8, Sigma 150-600 sports (1.4x TC), Sigma 35mm F1.4. Also I have Nikon SB500 flash. For long exposure shots and landscapes I use Benro ND10 filters and Benro tripod.
